Why We Ride: Honoring CPL Andrew L. Hutchins
A Soldier from New Vineyard
Corporal Andrew L. Hutchins grew up in New Vineyard, Maine — a small town in the western foothills where community means everything. He was a son, a brother, a friend, and a soldier who chose to serve his country with the 101st Airborne Division.
On November 8, 2010, Andrew was killed in action in Afghanistan. He was 21 years old.
Why This Ride Exists
The CPL Andrew L. Hutchins Memorial Ride was born from a simple but powerful idea: Andrew should never be forgotten. His family, friends, and community came together to create an annual event that honors his sacrifice and channels that grief into something meaningful — raising money for organizations that serve veterans and military families.
Every year, motorcycles, cars, trucks, veterans, first responders, and community members gather to ride 61 miles through the heart of central Maine — from North Monmouth to North Anson — in his honor.
The Road Ahead
Past beneficiaries of the ride include:
- The Summit Project (2024) — connecting Maine veterans with the healing power of the outdoors
- Travis Mills Foundation (2025) — supporting recalibrated veterans and their families
- Operation Reboot Outdoors (2026) — helping veterans reconnect through outdoor adventure
