Meet the 2025 Beneficiary: Travis Mills Foundation
Who Is Travis Mills?
Staff Sergeant Travis Mills is a Maine native and a veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division. During his third deployment to Afghanistan in 2012, he was critically wounded by an IED and lost portions of all four limbs. He is one of only five living quadruple amputees from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Rather than let that define the end of his story, Travis rebuilt. He became an advocate, a motivational speaker, and the founder of an organization dedicated to helping other veterans do the same.
What the Travis Mills Foundation Does
The Travis Mills Foundation operates a retreat in Rome, Maine — not far from the same central Maine landscape that shaped Andrew Hutchins. The retreat provides all-expenses-paid, barrier-free vacations for post-9/11 veterans with catastrophic injuries and illnesses, along with their families.
The foundation's philosophy is built around what Travis calls being a "recalibrated warrior" — adapting, overcoming, and never giving up. Veterans and their families come to the retreat to rest, reconnect, and find community with people who understand what they've been through. Activities are fully accessible, the environment is welcoming, and the cost to participants is zero.
A Maine Connection
The Travis Mills Foundation is rooted in Maine. The retreat sits on the shores of a Maine lake. Travis himself grew up here. And the veterans who come through the program often find that Maine's quiet, wide-open landscape is exactly what they needed.
That connection to Maine — and to the kind of community that shows up for its veterans — made the Travis Mills Foundation a natural fit for the 2025 ride.
The Ride's Giving Record
The CPL Hutchins Memorial Ride has raised funds for a different Maine veteran organization each year:
- 2024 — The Summit Project
- 2025 — Travis Mills Foundation
- 2026 — Operation Reboot Outdoors
The 2027 beneficiary will be announced soon. Every dollar raised goes directly to the chosen organization — no administrative fees, no overhead taken from donations.

The 4th Annual Ride is set for Saturday, August 7th, 2027 — 61 miles from North Monmouth to North Anson, Maine. All vehicles welcome.
